We currently have two vacancies for early years practitioners level 3 or above. One position is for 23 hours per week and the other for 30 hours per week. Please indicate on the application form which position you are applying for.

JOB TITLE: EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
ACCOUNTABLE TO: PRE-SCHOOL MANAGER, DEPUTY MANAGER AND SENIOR
Ashdene Independent Preschool is a not for profit Pre-school, based in the grounds of Ashdene Primary School. We open between 8am and 5pm, Term time only, offering sessional and full time places. We are an early years provision for 2.5 – 4 year olds.
Salary £12.37 per hour. Pay rise in April.
Start date 24th February 2025
Working hours: 23 / 30 hours - Monday - Friday. (3 + 4 days a week available due to retirement.) 8:30am-4pm (additional shift sessions covering our before and after school clubs is expected on a rota basis). Half hour for lunch. This includes 2 hours a week additional pay for planning, staff meetings and training.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• To work effectively as part of a team demonstrating cooperation and flexibility.
• To act as a key person, taking responsibility for the care, well-being and education of a small group of children and regularly liaising with their parents/carers.
• To model good practice and behaviour to staff, parents and children at all times.
• To help maintain a safe environment within the Pre-School, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and general hygiene. Where necessary assist in the preparation of food and help with the clearing away.
• To take an active part in any training and development activities provided for Pre-school staff.
• To ensure effective communication with colleagues and maintain positive working relationships.
• To attend and take an active part in regular staff meetings (held in the evenings).
• To project a professional image of the Pre-School to all parents and visitors.
• To be aware of and support the implementation of all Pre-School Policies and to share and actively promote the Pre-school’s commitment to safeguarding children.
• To undertake any other appropriate duties as directed by the Manager or Deputy Manager.
An enhanced DBS and References will need to be completed before the interview process is carried out.
